Ukraine's Electricity Crisis Continues Amid Snowfall

Kyiv: Heavy snowfall is predicted to hit Kyiv, as millions of people in the Ukrainian capital live amid power and heating lines.

On Saturday morning, electricity operator Ukrenergo explained that new power producers could meet three-quarters of electricity needs across Ukraine. Finally, some limitations and outages are also not spared.

Sergey Kovalenko, YASNO's chief operating officer -- a power line supplier for Kyiv -- explained that things in the capital have improved but "still remain difficult." He pointed out that the Kyiv community should be prepared for power outages of at least four hours in one day.

"If you don't have electricity for at least four hours on a final day, ask for a note to DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks. Officers will help you find out what the problem is," Kovalenko noted via Facebook and was picked up by The New Daily, Sunday, November 27, 2022.

YASNO is the retail arm of DTEK, the largest private energy supplier in Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained on Friday the other day that 6 million of his people were living without electricity as a result of a series of bombings by Russia.

So far, Russia has made it clear it is not targeting civilians. But Moscow explained that the onslaught on Ukraine's energy infrastructure is a risk from Kyiv, which it says it does not want to transact.

Ukrenergo explained that the outages will continue, and residents are advised to use limited energy.

"We want to remember you that every Ukrainian whose residence has been electrified can help someone with economical electricity consumption," he said in a statement on Telegram.

Snow is predicted to continue to hit Kyiv, Ukraine's capital of 2.eight million citizens before the Russian aggression, until the middle of next week. Air temperatures in Kyiv are predicted to remain below freezing.
