Arsenal vs Brighton result: Lost 1-3, London Cannons Eliminated from English League Cup
Arsenal were left out of the English League Cup (Carabao Cup) after losing 1-3 in the service of Brighton and Hove Albion. The match took place at Emirates Phase on Thursday (10/11/2022) morning.
The London Cannons (Arsenal's call-up) can actually score first through Eddie Nketiah (20'). However, Brighton were able to come-back and win the game through goals by Danny Welbeck (27'), Kaoru Mitoma (58'), and Tariq Lamptey (71').
Early in the first set, Brighton's men made the first shot into the Gunners' goal in the third minute when Sarmiento broke through moments before heading to Enciso. However, his effort deflected Holding until the ball went wide to get a corner.
A minute later, following Brighton's corner kick, Enciso felt his absence in the penalty area. However, he pointed his horns off the target up close.
Then in the 14th minute, Brighton again got a chance to finish Welbeck winning the ball and releasing it to Sarmiento on the edge of the penalty area. Then the Ecuadorian player unleashed a strong shot that almost hit the goal line.
This time, Arsenal successfully broke brighton's goal in the 20th minute. After Nelson pounded brighton's defence, Eddie Nketiah also remained calm to score his eleventh goal in 12 EFL Cup games. The scoreboard switched to 1-0 for Arsenal.
Responding quickly, Brighton then managed to score a counter-goal in the 27th minute. After winning his own penalty, Welbeck replaced it by directing his penalty kick into the bottom right corner, through an unfortunate Hein. The goal changed the score to 1-1.
Near the end of the first set, Arsenal gained the upper hand, as Nelson and Nketiah both provided a threat to Brighton's goal from the edge of the penalty area. In the minute, 45'+ 2' Elneny dropped his shoulder, then fired a left-footed shot into the net, which was aimed backwards by a discouraged Dunk block. Then there were no goals, the score remained equally strong 1-1 in the first set.
The 2nd set began, Arsenal immediately made a breakthrough to brighton's defensive line. The team directed by Mikel Arteta had several opportunities. However, they were unable to convert it to produce a goal.
Apes, Arsenal forgot about the defence. They also had to be fouled through Kaoru Mitoma's goal in the 58th minute. The goal put the Gunners 1-2 behind the visiting team.
Then, Arsenal tried to get up to be able to match the position. However, the London Cannons looked to have trouble breaking into brighton's goal until the 70th minute.
Instead of scoring a counter-goal, Arsenal had to get the ball back from their own goal. This was the time it was Tariq Lamptey's replacement who recorded his name on the scoreboard in the 71st minute. The position switched to 3-1 for Brighton's win until the game was over.
