Spanish League Results - Barcelona Vs Celta Vigo 1-0, Pedri Saves Barca from Lewandowski's Goal Dependence
Pedri became the team's winner in the Barcelona vs Celta Vigo match in the 8th week of the Spanish League at Spotify Camp Nou, Monday (10/10/2022) early morning WIB.
The 1-0 result marked Barcelona's 7th win in a row in LaLiga this season.
The tripoin was also the first for Barca without the contribution of Robert Lewandowski's goals.
Previously, Barcelona was hit by the issue of dependence on Lewandowski's goals.
Like opium, Barca proved never to win every time the Polish goal machine was absent from breaking into the enemy's goal.
The proof comes from the results against Vallecano (0-0), Bayern Munich (0-2), and most recently when beaten by Inter Milan (0-1).
However, thanks to Pedri's single strike in the Barcelona vs Celta Vigo match, the trend ended this week.
The course of the match
Raphinha started a barrage of opportunities that Barcelona had in the Celta Vigo defence.
In the 10th minute, the Brazilian winger's hard shot from outside the penalty box was pushed over by Celta goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin's left hand.
Marchesin then saved the ball from Lewandowski's header which headed into the middle of the goal.
Furthermore, Ferran Torres' golden opportunity from close range was thwarted again by Marchesin through a perfect block.
The might of the Argentine goalkeeper collapsed also in the 17th minute.
Gavi's bait from the left side of the attack was actually successfully swept by Celta defender Unai Nunez in front of goal.
However, Nunez's sweep was too weak to become a delicious bait for Pedri.
The 19-year-old prodigy was in the right place when he grabbed the ball for Marchesin to throw it into the net.
Barcelona's 1-0 advantage was recorded on the scoreboard at halftime.
In the 70th minute, Celta actually rattled Marc-Andre ter Stegen's net through Jorgen Strand Larsen's close-range header.
However, without hesitation the referee rejected it because the goal process began with a clear offside.
No additional goals were created even though both sides had some extra opportunities.
This narrow victory brought Barcelona back to the top of the Spanish League standings.
They just let Real Madrid sit on the throne 24 hours with a goal difference advantage alone.
