Omonia Nicosia vs Manchester United Result: Score 2-3

Banaspati -- Manchester United finally achieved maximum results in the 2022/2023 Europa League Group E continued. Man United won 3-2 over Omonia Nicosia at Tsirion Athlítiko Kentro, Cyprus, Thursday (6/10/2022) night WIB.

Marcus Rashford contributed two goals to the victory for Man United (53, 84'), while another goal was contributed by Anthony Martial (63'). Two Omonia goals were created by Karim Ansarifard in the 34th minute and Nikolas Panayiotou in the 85th minute.

This victory clearly means a lot to Man United. After losing the first match, Man United continued to win in the next two matches.

The addition of three points did not change the ranking of Man United in the second position of the standings with a score of six points. Man United is still behind Real Sociedad who collected nine points. Meanwhile, Omonia is still in the caretaker position because it has not yet collected points.

First round

Man United struggled to build an attack in the first ten minutes. Omonia plays tight and low to minimize space in defence.

Man United's only chance during the ten-minute span came in the 9th minute. Through a combination of vertical passes, Man United successfully reached the Omonia penalty box on the left side. Cristiano Ronaldo kicks off with his left foot, but it can be countered by goalkeeper Fabiano.

Man United had two chances in two minutes created. In the 17th minute, Man United had a chance through Antony and Bruno Fernandes, but there was a miscommunication at the end. A minute later, Bruno had another chance, but his shot still hit the bar.

Antony again created opportunities in the 27th minute. Through a cut-inside movement, he did a curved kick from outside the penalty box. Omonia goalkeeper's flying save thwarts Man United's chances.

Unexpectedly, it was Omonia who could score the first goal. Starting from Tyrell Malacia's mistake when he had the ball, Omonia launched a counter-attack. In a 3v2 situation, Karim Ansarifard successfully ripped Man United's net in the 34th minute.

After this goal, Man United failed to develop the game. The method is still the same and is constantly deadlocked to break into the home team's defense. In fact, Man United controlled 75 percent possession of the ball.

Second round

In the second half Omonia's defense was not as solid and tight as in the first half. Man United are free to continue to attack. On the other hand, Omonia actually had more opportunities to attack in the second half.

As a result of the defense that was not solid, Man United almost added to his goal coffers in the 78th minute. Dalot's mature pass to Ronaldo, who was already in front of the goal, failed to turn into a goal because the ball just hit the bar.

The error was immediately paid for completely by Ronaldo in the 84th minute. In a 2v3 outnumbered situation, Ronaldo, who seemed to take a stray shot, actually managed to maximize Rashford at the farthest post to score a goal.

However, the two-goal advantage only lasted a minute. Omonia immediately reduced the deficit through Panayiotou. The scoring process is again of a quick positive transition.

Both teams had more chances to score. However, poor finishing and tight defense of each team kept the score unchanged with a 3-2 win for Man United.
